Rainham Faces Exhibition – Opening Night

The Rainham Change Makers have commissioned local artist Shema Ladva to hand draw a series of portraits of Rainham locals that contribute positively to their community. Part of Shema’s artistic process is to meet her subjects, sit and chat with them over a drink and draw out their story conversationally and informally. At the sittings she takes a selection of photographs which she then projects to draw from.
The series of portraits will be installed at The Royals Youth Centre (Havering Changing’s Creativity hub) and will be on display from Friday 13th October.
As part of this commission, Shema invites you to meet her at the exhibition’s opening night event. You will find out more about the work, her creative process and try out some of her techniques, to create your own unique hand-drawn images that you can then take away.
All art materials will be provided. Open to all abilities. Children are welcome but must be accompanied and supervised by an adult throughout. Free refreshments provided.
