Rediscover Rodgers & Hammerstein’s classic musical, The Sound of Music, at the Brookside Theatre this February.The Sound of Music is considered by many to be the world’s most beloved musical. Based on Baroness Maria von Trapp’s 1949 autobiography and the effervescent Julie Andrews-led silver screen classic, this musical smash tells the fascinating true story of of Maria, a spirited young woman who is failing miserably at becoming a nun in a mountain monastery.When she is placed with Navy captain Georg Von Trapp and his seven mischievous children as a governess, she fills their lives with kindness, music and overwhelming joy. The musical follows this world-famous singing family, from their romantic beginnings and search for happiness, to their thrilling escape to freedom as their beloved Austria becomes part of the Third Reich at the start of the Second World War.

With a timeless score The Sound of Music includes some of the most memorable songs ever performed on the musical stage including Do-Re-Mi, Climb Ev’ry Mountain, My Favourite Things, Sixteen Going on Seventeen, Edelweiss and of course, the title song, The Sound of Music.
