About the opportunity

Have you always had a longing to volunteer but unsure what charity to dedicate your time to?

A passion for helping and empowering individuals and enhance the Havering Community? Did you answer yes?

Havering Volunteer Centre’s Volunteer Pathway Adviser role ticks all of those boxes.

Here at HVC we support 250 charities, community and voluntary groups in Havering and have over 2000 active volunteers registered with us, both of these increasing daily.

The organisations we support are all looking for volunteers to support their Havering based services and the volunteers that visit us are all looking for the perfect opportunity.

A Volunteer Pathway Adviser’s role is to perfectly match a volunteer to a volunteering role by listening to their likes, skills and interests during a one to one informal interview.

By placing volunteers with the right skills and experience into volunteering roles, they make an essential contribution to the vital work these organisations do supporting the Havering community.

We are the Volunteer Centre for Havering with many opportunities for you to view and chose a cause that is close to your heart to volunteer with. We will match your likes and interests and get you volunteering as quickly as we can. Contact us today and start volunteering in your local area now.

What are they looking for?

Experience of working in a role with direct contact with the public would be a bonus but more importantly is that our volunteers have good communication and inter-personal skills. You will need to be approachable, non-judgemental personality and the ability to work with clients from a wide variety of backgrounds and abilities.

We are looking for individuals who are highly motivated and enthusiastic with a presentable professional manner.

The right candidate will be required to have excellent communication skills both verbal and written in order to effectively support the diverse community that Havering Volunteer Centre supports.

It is important that the right volunteer is confident and able to interact with the general public and organsiations, has excellent IT skills and can use all Microsoft Word packages such as Excel (this is for inputting purposes), Outlook, Word and additional internet usage.

Practical Considerations

This role would suit an experienced or retired person wanting to use their previous knowledge to make a difference in a front line person centred role.

Due to the training and development required in this role, it would not suit anybody requiring short-term time volunteering positions.

The above duties are neither exclusive nor exhaustive and volunteers may be required to carry out other appropriate and reasonable duties as required

Havering Volunteer Centre attends outreach sessions across the borough, these are team led and driven so you may be required to assist with promotional events such as any pre or post preparation and facilitating the events.

This is a fun, fast paced and rewarding role for anyone wishing to invigorate the community.
